This page explains what OSMS keeps about you and why, in plain words. It describes how the site works today.
Updated November 2026: in the Workshop, Change and Remove now send that part of the picture as soon as you press them (no extra step). Earlier (November 2026): clips can get a show suggestion from matching pages and their words (shown only to you). Earlier (November 2026): clips get automatic details (their sound is written down, a few frames described), and words saved with a shared clip help other people find it. Earlier (November 2026): words saved with your clips. Earlier (October 31): Workshop picture changes (Change words, Remove text, Clean up). Earlier (October 30): browser Pockets without sign-up, automatic details (on by default, off anytime), imports starting on Shared library, name display and abuse limits.
Your Pocket (no sign-up needed)
- The first time you visit, OSMS makes you a Pocket linked to this browser and gives it a random name (you can change it). No email or password is needed.
- A cookie in this browser keeps you connected to your Pocket for up to a year. It is used only for that, never for ads or tracking.
- Your Pocket’s favorites, collections, activity (opens and uses) and the pictures you import are stored on our servers so they work across visits in this browser.
- Without an email, clearing this browser’s site data, choosing “Remove from this browser”, or losing the device means the Pocket cannot be opened again. Its stored data stays on our servers until it is deleted (see “Deleting your data”).
When you sign in with email
- Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to your email address. We keep your email address and a record of your signed-in devices so you can sign out of them.
- Your favorites, collections and activity are stored with your account so they follow you across devices.
- Signing in with email today opens a separate email account; it does not yet merge a browser Pocket into it.
Pictures you import
- When you save an imported picture, the save screen starts on “Shared library”. Pick “Private” there to keep it to yourself; you can change it later.
- When you share a picture to the shared library, anyone visiting OSMS can see, save, copy and send it.
- Your Pocket name is not shown with what you share unless you turn on “Show my name on things I share to the library”. Even then, only approved members see it; other visitors don’t. (Approved members’ own first names are shown to other approved members.)
Automatic details (on by default, off anytime)
- Automatic details are on by default. When you import a picture, OSMS sends a copy of it, with file details removed, to OpenAI, Google Cloud Vision and SerpApi to suggest the caption, show and characters. SerpApi may also send Google a short text search. The import screen says so and has a Turn off button.
- “Look deeper” and “Suggest …” buttons send the same kind of request only when you press them, and say what is sent first.
- We do not open result pages or download result images. Suggestions are not verified facts. SerpApi’s standard service may keep search data for up to 31 days.
- When you import a clip with automatic details on, OSMS sends the sound of the part you picked (never your original video) to Cloudflare Workers AI to write down what is said, with the times of the words or lines. It sends six still frames from the clip, with the clip's title (not its words), to OpenAI to suggest the scene, the show and the characters; those suggestions only fill details you haven't set yourself. At the same time it may send one still frame to SerpApi (Google Lens) to look for pages with the same picture, and, if Lens is unavailable, fails or finds no usable matching pages, to Google Cloud Vision. It may then send OpenAI the titles and any short descriptions of those pages, the clip's title and a limited part of its saved words (its subtitles, or the words written down from its sound) to suggest which show and characters the clip is from. That suggestion is shown only to you, on the clip's details, and is added only if you choose Use. Removing the words also removes a suggestion you haven't used; details you've already used stay until you change them.
- You can turn automatic details off at any time, or skip a single picture or clip. Once off, nothing is sent — no pictures, no sound, no frames, no words.
Workshop picture changes
- In the Workshop, the words in your picture are read inside your own browser. Nothing is sent for that.
- “Change”, “Remove” and “Clean up” send only the part of the picture with those words, plus a small margin around it, to OpenAI (or Google Gemini if you press Try again). Change and Remove send it as soon as you press them; Clean up, and words that look like a creator’s credit, show the exact part and ask first. Their image model rebuilds that part; the rest of your picture never leaves your browser. Undo puts the picture back.
- OpenAI may keep what it receives for up to 30 days to check for abuse; Google keeps it only for a limited time for the same reason. On paid use neither uses it to train or improve their models. OSMS doesn’t keep the changed part: your browser holds it until you save. We keep only a record that a change was made (for limits and costs) and a scrambled fingerprint of it.
- A picture you save after a change is marked “AI-edited” in its details, because the changed area is rebuilt and not original. Your original stays as it was.
- There is a daily limit on changes.
Words in your clips
- If a clip has subtitles inside it, those words are read in your browser. With automatic details on, the clip's sound is also written down by Cloudflare Workers AI (see above).
- If you leave "Save these words with the clip" ticked — and for words written down from the sound — the lines and their times are stored on our servers with the clip so you can find it by what's said.
- Words saved with a private clip are only for you. If you share the clip in the Shared Library, its words help other people find it in search. They are not shown as text on the page, but they are sent to visitors' browsers as part of search, so treat them as public once the clip is shared.
- Taking the clip out of the Shared Library, or removing it, stops that: new visits stop at once, and pages already open stop within about 10 minutes. Your own copy keeps its words until you remove them.
- "Remove words" on the clip deletes them. Removing the clip, or deleting your account or Pocket, deletes them too.
What visitors can see
- Shared library pictures are visible to anyone who visits OSMS.
- Your collections, favorites, activity and private imports are never shown to other people.
Limits and abuse protection
To keep the site fair and affordable, we count uploads and requests per Pocket and per internet connection. For the connection count we keep only a scrambled (one-way hashed) form of your IP address, never the address itself.
Where things are stored
OSMS runs on Cloudflare (Workers, D1 database and R2 storage). Sign-in emails are sent through Resend. Automatic details use OpenAI, Google Cloud Vision, SerpApi and, for clips, Cloudflare Workers AI (speech to text), and Workshop picture changes use OpenAI and Google (Gemini), as described above. These providers process data only to run the site.
How long we keep things
- Pocket and account data stay while the Pocket or account exists.
- Sign-in codes expire within minutes of being sent.
- A signed-in device session or browser Pocket link lasts up to a year. Using it near the end renews it. Sign out or remove it to end it sooner.
- A picture you withdraw from the shared library stops being shown to other people right away. Copies other people already saved stay with them. The stored file is deleted within 30 days if you email legal@osms.ai and ask.
Deleting your data
- Email account: write to legal@osms.ai from the address you signed in with. We delete your account and its data within 30 days.
- Browser Pocket: while you can still open it in your browser, write to legal@osms.ai with your Pocket’s name. We reply with a short code; change your Pocket’s name to that code from the same browser so we know it’s yours, and we delete it within 30 days. A Pocket name alone is not enough, so we can’t delete a Pocket after it has been removed from its browser.
What we do not do
- We do not run analytics or advertising trackers.
- We do not sell or share your information for marketing.
Search engines
OSMS pages ask search engines not to index them.
